Beaches in Rabat with golden sand

Beaches in Rabat feature an extensive coastline with golden sandy shores, catering to enthusiasts of serene tourism and offering sun and sea. The panoramic vista extends to the magnificent Bab El-Barh complex, which includes a sports port situated at the mouth of the Bouregreg River, delineating the two cities.

Rabat indeed has a beach. The city is situated on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and several beaches in the area are popular with both locals and tourists. Here are some of the most popular beaches in Rabat:

Rabat Beach

This is the main beach in Rabat, located near the city center. It’s a long, wide beach with plenty of space for sunbathing and swimming.

Nations Beach

This beach is located just south of the city center and is popular with families. It has a playground and other amenities, as well as calm waters that are good for swimming.

Sale beach

This beach is located in the neighboring city of Salé, just across the river from Rabat. It’s a long, wide beach with plenty of space for walking and sunbathing.

Mehdia Beach

This beach is located about an hour’s drive north of Rabat and is known for its beautiful scenery and great surf.

Rabat has several beaches to choose from, each with its own unique atmosphere and attractions. Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot to relax or a place to catch some waves, there’s a beach in Rabat that’s right for you.

Rabat and Salé beaches

Salé beaches

Beaches on either side of the mouth of the Bouregreg River are the most popular in the city. They’re near the Oudayas Kasbah on Rabat’s bank, offering beach services and dining options.

Keep going south of there, and the coast gets rough and ends at the Lighthouse.

If you continue along the coast further south, there is an unsuitable area for swimming. Next to the Oceano district, you can see the old fort of Rottembourg or Fort Hervé, built during the First World War, and the old military hospital. This area is in the rehabilitation phase.

On the bank of Salé, to the north, is a small marina behind the Muslim cemetery and the Medina. The rocky coast continues north, next to the ramparts of the Medina, where we find the mausoleum and cemetery of Sidi Benacher.

Further north, the beach of Sidi Musa is rocky but very lively because it is close to the famous district of Salé.

To the north, between the coast’s cliffs, there are several small coves, including the beach of Bouknadel. This coast continues to the long Plage des Nations.

North Beaches

Kenitra beach

Towards Kenitra, the coast is rocky, and cliffs to the splendid Plage des Nations are 20 km away. It exerts a fascination on the visitor. It offers a breathtaking view of the ocean, fine sand, and a privileged environment. Well known to surfers, it is in the process of modernization, with the construction of a modern resort, Plage des Nations Golf Resort, with golf courses, villas, and hotels at the foot of the sea.

This beach continues on Mehdia beach, 39 km away, located at the mouth of the Sebou, at the foot of the kasbah of the same name, and surrounded by a nature reserve. 7 km from the center of Kenitra is a large sandy beach with tourist catering services. Very busy in summer.

After the beach, to the south, are the lagoons of Sidi Bouhhaba, which are very frequented by water birds.

Following the road south of the Temara coast, we find:

After a stone area, there are the beaches of Contrebandier and  Sable d’Or, with a small islet and the small beach of Sidi Al Abes inside the marina.

After the port, the coast continues with the long beach of Val d’Or of fine golden sand, which extends with the beach of Petit Val d’Or, and ends in cliffs.

Skhirat

Skhirat beaches  (23 km), a beach where a beautiful coastal road begins, reaches Mohammedia (41 km)—frequented by the inhabitants of Casablanca.

First of all, we have the sandy beach at the mouth of the Oued Ikam, the non-urbanized beach of Rose Marie, popular with surfers, and Jouara beach, protected by reefs, leading to a rocky ledge where finds Cherif Hassan’s marabout.

Next is the sandy cove of Boullamat, and after crossing the reef areas, you will find the marina from which Shkirat beach leaves.

This beach is exquisite and popular among the national jet set, especially with the presence of the Royal Summer Palace, where the royal family spends time in the summer. On the other hand, Skhirat is also a fishing center and enjoys a perfect geographical location and a microclimate recognized for its benefits. On the coast stands out the luxurious Hotel L’Amphitrite Palace 5 *.
